Looks like we are heading to a Green Christmas, no snow yet here, but it's cold, it's always a good idea to have a pair of mittens any time we go outside.

Have a great day!

Keep It Simple, A New Acrylic Painting

Ale Balanzario acrylic

Keep It Simple

I have been busy lately, and I might say, very busy, a few months ago, I came up to a beautiful painting, a still life, so colorful and so much on it, the painting by itself could tell me a whole story every time I look at it, the author of course is Este Macleod.

If you have seen Este's work, every work is a piece of art, so I follow her on Facebook page and on Pinterest.

One day I saw on Este's Facebook, she was going to have an online course "Explore Colour Course", I didn't think twice, I signed on!.

This course is two weeks long, and everyday is fantastic, this course is full with knowledge and creativity, Este shares all her knowledge, she has tasks to do everyday.

It was a great online course, from a new medium for me, it was the first time I did something with acrylics, and a new whole way to make a painting.

Transparency in an Illustration

I just finished the online course about Color on Illustration, with the great illustrator and teacher Marian Lario.

I learnt many new things on this subject, this illustration was my homework for the 5th week, I worked here with hand carved stamps, then I scanned it and on photoshop I cleaned the background, and using layers with the mode multiply, I added some color with transparency.

Something new for me, really interesting and love the result.

How to work on an Illustration with complementary colors.

Complementary Colors on an Illustration

Last week on my Color Course for Illustration, with the talented teacher Marian Larios, I had to work on an illustration with complementary colors.

Blue - Orange

On this Color course, I'm learning how to work with colors, the right way, too much to learn, and so happy to be there.

Too much to learn yet.

If you are looking to learn about the illustration world, I would recommend Marian Larios, she speaks Spanish, so her courses are in Spanish, if you speak it or if you understand it, it worth all!

Kaleidoscope Free Paper Toy

Paper Kaleidoscope Toy

I love Paper Toys, if you ask me why, I would say, for me they are something I've been always attracted to, they are colorful, they are made out of a piece of paper, they are so playful, I can hold them in my hands and play with them for hours.

Another thing I love about Paper toys, it's we all can make them!

This time, together with my sister Mariana, we worked together to make our own Kaleidoscope Paper Toy, you might seen this Kaleidoscope made out paper on the net.

We fall in love with it, and we challenged ourselves to make one for us.
After a few days working on it, here you have it, it works, you can download for free, this time you have to choices to pick from, one with color already on it, or one for coloring, you can color it and then cut, glue and play with it.

Hope you like it, hope you make one or many and have lots of fun with it.

To download the paper toys, click on each one and print them out.
If you have any question, leave a comment and I will respond.

I thank you for making the time to visit my blog and leave a comment.
You can always follow me on Facebook, Pinterest, and get all the updates of my work.

Never Stop Learning, Color Class for illustrators

 Color Class

I'm taking the "Color Class" and online course with Marian Lario, a wonderful illustrator and great teacher, this is my 3rd online course I take with her, she never disappoint me, her online courses are complete, well written, easy to follow with lots to learn.

Marian Lario's Blog "El Gato Azul De Prusia" (in Spanish) has always post with great information and resources for illustrators.

In this "Color Class" there is a student Natali, she is another wonderful illustrator and great teacher too. you can visit her blog Nata Ludica (in Spanish), she also always share her knowledge and great illustrations.

And this "Color Class" is as good as the other two I already taken with her, on the first week we learned about the basic of color in illustrations, as homework we need to work on an illustration.
I'm happy to share with you all some steps of my homework.

1. I made a sketch on my sketch book with pencil.

 2. I scanned it, then I cropped it, worked a little on the brightness and made lines dark enough.
I'm not a professional illustrator and for sure I'm not a professional working with photoshop, but I try to do my best, hope one day I learn enough to make better illustrations, never quilt to learn more.

 3. I made a layer on photoshop and I began to work on the color,

4. I finished my homework adding some touches with more color.

well, think this little guy is having some fun watering one of his friends, I could name this illustration empathy.

I thank you for making the time to read this post, if you like my work, and if you want to get updates of my work, you always can visit and like my Facebook Fan Page, as well my Pinterest illustrations board.

Wish you all a wonderful day, and never stop learning!
